Interesting about the pecan tree

Of the Pecan or Carya illinoinesis describes a walnut family tree native to North America. It can reach up to fifty meters in the wild and thrives in much of Central America and the United States, where even the natives collected nuts and processed them in many different ways. The pecan tree needs a nutrient-rich and deep soil and a location without waterlogging or dryness. He is extremely weather resistant and can handle extreme heat periods in summer as well as low temperatures in long and frosty winters. Outside of its home countries, the pecan tree, as a supplier of the world's popular pecans, is today cultivated on a large scale in Australia, Hawaii, China, South America and Israel. As an extremely long-lived tree, the Carya illinoinesis can be up to a thousand years old, some specimens are still bearing fruits at this age.
The trunk of the pecan tree can have a diameter of up to two meters. The alternate leaves are composed of slightly sawn pinnules, which are much larger at the top than at the bottom. Striking are the spreading and long treetop and the deep and irregularly rugged, light brown or gray bark. The thin branches are extremely brittle. Cultivated pecan trees are usually much lower, but are bred with several strains. The rhizome, which protrudes about ten meters into the deep soil, is about twice as wide compared to the treetop.
Male and female flowers are separated and pollinated by the wind, not by insects. After flowering, the fruits develop in autumn in a four-ply fruit peel. The actual brown or brown striped nut is protected by a thin and hard shell and has an elongated shape. The most famous preparation of pecan is the so-called "pecan pie", but many other sweet baked goods are made of it, especially in America. The nutritious oil that is extracted from it is suitable for the preparation of food as well as for the care of the skin. The regular consumption of pecans according to the latest findings is due to the high content of antioxidants and vitamins even protect against different civilization diseases.
